Transforming into something else….

“Every education system in the world is being reformed at the moment. And it’s not enough. Reform is no use anymore, because that’s simply improving a broken model. What we need . . . is not evolution, but a revolution in education. This has to be transformed into something else.”  Sir Ken Robinson apparently said this in his latest TED talk on Youtube.  Doesn’t it make sense?

It is such an exciting time to be an educator, we are definitely in a time of system shifting change and we need to have school leaders who understand the need to move forward to join the rest of the world.  I spend so much time working on new and innovative approaches to learning that I often forget that many educators are not as fortunate as I am to have access to all of this exciting innovation.  However, when I talk to teachers who are making change in the their classrooms daily, I am so excited and energized and I miss the classroom.

I wonder if we could have a model of school leadership that allowed or required  administrators to still teach….don’t you think connections to change would take on a whole new direction?  Perhaps this is how we need to proceed to change and transform.
